FSOFT Working Day

Due to shortage of materials, I used to be a main writer for the first issues of The Cucumber in 2002. In October 2002, I was supporting G3 in training DMS (Distribution Management System) for Unilever's distrubutors in Hanoi. During this training, I wrote this "poem" and signed as "a FSOFT developer".

FSOFT Working Day

A FSOFT developer’s working day
Starts at 9 o’clock
In fact it should be thirty minutes ealier,
But I went sleep last night late
(you will know why by the end
of this poem at the soonest…)

First I go to cafeteria
Because I always do that
I get my noodle there
with a couple of sausages
then followed a cup of coffee
Both of them take 30 minutes

It’s 9:30 now
So I turn on my desktop
To keep updated with news
IE takes me to VNExpress
I go thru Five Orange (1) case
Then a series on Catfish… (2)

I decide to start coding
So at 10 I open my tasklist
But I cannot find my documents
Perhaps it was klez-e virus
Oh yes there is an email
From our admin VietNH:
“Klez is now spreading
Keep your PC out of that…”

Again 1 hour went away
Luckily it’s not a virus
(I’ve just cleaned up my HDD,
and copy everything to DinhDQ’s hard disk…)
Now surely the coding process begins…
But here comes my project lead
He told me that I’m excellent
And next day is time for release…
I feel very proud of myself,
And carelessly go for lunch with my colleague.

A scream waked me up at 2
(‘coz last night I slept bad)
It was VanLH’s scream
Followed by polite comments of KhoiTX
I feel bad so: again to cafeteria
After coffee I can surely eat the release

Back to PC at 2:30
I hear something that of interest
I see that MinhDH is watching video
Some uncensored commercial clips
Omit these things is not my nature
Anyway, only other 30 minutes…

After laughing and shouting
My mood increases 50% at least
Now I‘m ready for coding
And today I won’t stay late
But a message from Yahoo! comes
It’s my girl friend that is abroad
Her time now is midnight
And she is missing me, my God!
As an authentic gentleman
I cannot ignore her for hour and half

Needless to say it’s almost 4:30
And again people are at laugh
This time it’s Japanese girls
Technically led by QuynhND - Their head
They say loudly something in J
Distract me from my job…

Oh no, the DMS is down again
How can I fix my big bugs?
I request Ms. Ana restart server
And it takes another 30 minutes
Moreover it’s Thursday today
People call me for football match…

Two hours later I back with my PC
And REALLY start my code
That’s why I have late to come home
As you see, very difficult my job.
